OUR SLICE OF BEAUTY

Our slice of beauty is 30 acres along the Columbia River in the National Scenic Area of the Columbia

River Gorge. Purchased in late 2006 and in a state of disrepair, we had a shared vision amongst the

ownership to revert the property back into a nice retreat and launch pad for guests to use while enjoying

the multitude of activities that abound on the property and in the Scenic Area. The name “Skamania” is

derived from the Chinook Tribe word meaning “swift water” and “Coves” because of the many protected

coves on the property along the river.

Scott and Cinda along with onsite caretakers started in early 2007 to clean up the property and make it

inviting for guests to enjoy. All of 6 existing houses were either torn down and completely rebuilt – The

Bluff House, High House, and Condos or extensively remodeled - The Riverhouse and The Overlook.

The Overlook house is the original house on the property. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks built this home in the

1940’s. Mr. Brooks was a master woodworker and created the beautiful inlaid wood ceilings of both the

Overlook and the Riverhouse. The Brooks had multiple foster children, whose names are carved into

Overlook ceiling. Some of these children have come to visit us.

The RV park and it’s amenities were also refurbished along with the vacation rental houses.

In 2016, we partnered with Michael Garnier and The Treehouse Guys TV show to build our Osprey

Treehouse. Michael’s brother is also part of the Skamania Coves ownership and Michael had been

hounding us for years to add a true treehouse for guests to stay in and we are glad we did! It has been a

huge success. To our knowledge it is still the only “real” house in a tree in Skamania County that you can
